So you want to put your kids in a car.

You are a very brave person. There are a few things to consider when buying a car for kids like reliability and affordability. Also safety should be an important consideration. It's hard to find a car that fits all of those descriptions. So I have chosen a few cars that come out at under $15,000 (before options) for your teen.

This year's crop of high-school graduates is one of the biggest since I and a gazillion other boomers graduated from high school in the late 1970s. In many of these millions of households, celebrating a high-school graduation means buying a car.

But what kind of car?

You ask safety experts at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, they advise you to buy none of those vehicles for a young driver. The IIHS's consistent advice is to buy your teen a car that is large, low and slow. This isn't what most parents do

How Your State Affects Your Car Insurance Rate

Not many people realize that the state, in which they live, actually has an impact on their car insurance rate. There are different laws concerning different states and that is why the car insurance rates will differ. So is your state the only thing affecting your car insurance rate?

Emergency Cash Loans – Get Money as soon as Tomorrow. Apply Now!

As the laws are different, there could be many factors which are causing your state to affect your car insurance rates. For example, each state has a different safety law and if your car is considered to be less safe your insurance rate will be higher. Also, say you live in Texas; your insurance rates might be lower than somebody living in New York for example. This is because New York is more built up and there are more people living and driving there which means that there is more chance of having an accident than there is in Texas. So, simple things like that affect your car insurance rates so it is always a good idea to check out the local regulations regarding car insurance in the state that you live.

Of course your state isn’t the only thing that affects your car insurance rates, but it is something that you need to consider. More importantly how you use the car and what type of car you drive will also affect the rate you receive. Of course the type of car you drive will also be linked to the state in which you live because again, each state will have its own laws on which cars are more economical than others etc.

What kind of car buyer are you?

If you want to save money while you are negotiating you should
negotiate from the dealer cost up and not from the MSRP down.
You just need to remember that dealer cost is not the same as the
factory invoice.

Some dealerships refuse to haggle over the cost of a car. Once you
make your opening offer you should never accept anything higher than
that, as far as costs go.
If the dealership that you go to doesn’t haggle, don’t sweat it,
some other dealership will. The reason some dealerships refuse to haggle is because they want
to add extra fees to the MSRP.

SOME OF MY FAVORITE CARS

I was in high school during the early to mid-60's.    There were two cars that I thought were really cool.  One was a Midnight Blue '62 (I believe) Chevy Impala convertible.  The other was a "64 (also sketchy on the year) red Oldsmobile Starfire convertible.

Car Dealership Scams

The VIN# window etching scam

Basically a dealer will charge you $300-$900 for window
etching and they will tell you that you have to pay the money to
get the loan because the banks insists on it.
Some dealers might tell you that the etching is free but will
add on the etch money to your monthly payments to make up for it.
The best way to avoid this scam is to force the dealer to put
it in writing if they say that the etching is free or simply etch
the car yourself.
You can get an etch-it-yourself kit from
http://www.CarEtch.com for $30 or just don’t buy the car.
Remember a lender doesn’t require that you purchase any
extras on a car. All the lender cares about is that you can make
your payments on time regularly. Don’t buy into it.

Reasons Why People Like Sports Cars

Sports cars are performance vehicles that provide driving satisfaction and pleasure. They allow a person to engage in the absolute driving experience and be in touch directly with the highway or road, as diametrically as possible
         .
In the automobile industry where economy vehicles, “family sedans” and SUV’s dominate the field, sports cars definitely stand out.

These types of cars, for the able and skilled drivers, can give optimum performance on the road. Not all drivers are equally skilled, but to individuals who are capable of feeling and understanding the faint messages of these vehicles, they can indulge in a rewarding and satisfying driving experience since sports cars are intended to be driven fairly fast.

Because of this driving pleasure, many people are drawn to a sports car. This is just one of the many reasons why people like these vehicles.  Other reasons include:

1.    Appearance.  The aerodynamic design of a sports car makes it appealing to car fans.  Although when you are making an automotive investment, this should not be the principal or only reason to purchase that vehicle. Functionality should be the primary consideration even though beauty will also enter into your decision.

2.    Driving characteristics.  While other vehicles are mainly designed for affordability and function, sports cars gives emphasis on performance and execution. The trait and condition of driving a sports car is an experience often unmatched.

Keeping in mind their very discriminating car drivers, sports cars easily out perform the road execution of other automobiles. Drivers can quickly accelerate when required, hug turns, and have a certain driving management not provided by most vehicles.

3.    Fun and excitement.  The driving qualities of a sports car can provide excitement and fun.

A person can spend hours talking about exciting experiences such as curve hugging wile not taking one’s foot off of the accelerator or zooming past slow moving traffic yet remaining in full control or talk about the feeling of gratification , and knowing that one is driving a car with superb engineering.

4.    Duration and resale value.  Each new automobile depreciates the very second it is driven.  However, sports cars will become more valuable as time passes, because of their above-mentioned qualities and are expected to become potential classics that will retain their value.

One does not need to make their car choice a statement, although if one chooses, the opportunity is right there. Owning a sports car will make a statement about the owner’s personality.
